Dehydration,
the mildest stage, occurs when the body is lacking fluid.Symptoms
of dehydration are dizziness, excessive perspiration, and cramping in the legs
or abdomen.
Heat
exhaustion is the second stage.If untreated, heat exhaustion could
lead to death.The symptoms are nausea, vomiting, headache,
dizziness, excess perspiration, fatigue, and paleness, moisture, and goose bumps
in the skin.
Heat
stroke is the most dangerous stage of heat illness.Victims can die
within minutes if not treated immediately.Take the victim’s
temperature.High temperatures indicate heatstroke.The
victim may have hot, dry skin, difficulty breathing, a lack of sweating, and an
elevated pulse rate.They may also experience vomiting and could
possibly pass out.Call 911 as soon as possible.
