If
victim is unresponsive (when checking, do not hit or shake the victim), call 911
immediately. If they respond, ask them questions while calling
911.
If
the victim is face down, carefully roll them over.Keep their body
in a straight line.
If
the victim is responsive, get their full consent.
Examine
the person from head to toe.
To
open the airway, tilt the head and lift the chin.
Check
the victim for breathing, but quickly.Waste no longer than ten
seconds.
If
victim is breathing, watch for changes in condition while maintaining an open
airway.
For
unconscious victims, tilt the head and give rescue breaths.
If
the chest does not rise, give approximately thirty chest compressions.
Look
for the foreign object and remove if seen.
Give
two more rescue breathes.
If
the chest does not rise, repeat steps concerning rescue breathing and chest
compressions.
If
the chest rises, check for breathing.
Treat
accurately.
