It can be a scary experience when someone suddenly collapses and has a seizure.
Knowing how to react could be the difference between life and death. All you
have to do is use your common sense and a few simple steps.
Step
1- Remain calm and composed- One of the worst things to do while someone is
having a seizure is to act serene. You need to start following steps
Step
2- Be sure to remove anything that could possibly harm the victim surrounding
them.
Step
3- Once you have ensured the safety of the victim, immediately start timing how
long the seizure is.
Step
4-be sure that the person is in an comfortable
position.
Step
5- Do not attempt to touch, feed, or give water to the victim.
Step
6- If the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes call
911.
After
a seizure steps:
What
you do after someone has had a seizure is almost as important as what you do
during the seizure. Follow these steps for after the seizure has fully
stopped.
Step
1- Do not alarm the victim! The victim will be disoriented when he becomes
conscious.
Step
2- Be calm and let them know that they have just had a
seizure.
Step
3- Ask the victim a few simple questions such as: what is your name, what is the
year, who is the president, and where are you.
Step
4- stay with the victim and be as supportive as possible, and don’t forget to
keep your calm.
